Caregiving is one of the hardest jobs out there, and it often goes unrecognized. In this episode of Inside Your County Government, Doria Fleisher of the Media Services Division talks with Holly Conley, Long Term Care Supervisor with the Charles County Department of Community Services, about the support available to family caregivers and the seniors they care for.
Holly explains who counts as a family caregiver (spouses, adult children, neighbors, church members, and anyone providing unpaid care). She covers how the National Family Caregiver Support Program helps the person giving care, and what respite care looks like, from in-home help to adult day programs. She also shares the signs of caregiver burnout, financial assistance options that may be more within reach than you think, and simple ways neighbors and community groups can help.
