What does it mean for Charles County to have a sister city in Africa? In this episode of Inside Your County Government, Doria Fleisher from Media Services sits down with Lucretia Freeman Buster, Chief of Business Services in the Department of Economic Development, to talk about the county’s partnership with Matola, Mozambique.

Lucretia explains what a sister city relationship is and why the county wants it to be more than ceremonial. She covers why Matola was a natural fit, from its industrial base in manufacturing, logistics, and agriculture to its proximity to Maputo, much like Charles County’s proximity to Washington, D.C. She also talks about what each community stands to gain, including new markets for local businesses and teacher training and exchange opportunities.
